Whisper Out Loud

This show is Meng Shui’s Capstone Project for Renée Crown University Honors Program, as a reflection of her study experience in the United States, which has enabled her to better understand her own country and empowered her to think critically and work creatively.

During the past two years, the artist has been collecting China’s “forbidden topics”, things that are not to be openly discussed due to heavily enforced censorship, and creating arts for the ones of greater impact on both international and personal levels.

For the Chinese audience, Meng hopes that this show would provide you an opportunity to talk about art as well as the political and social issues happening in China. For audiences who are not familiar with China or the “forbidden topics”, the artist hopes you would think, search or ask questions. And by doing so, you would realize how fortunate you are to live with the freedom of speech.
